  “Well now I tink I’m ‘ffended by dat,” Mr. Douchenozzle growled and reached out to grab her arm, as if the physical assault would somehow force her to change her mind.

  Here we go.

  Except his hand never made contact. Bracing herself, Ria finally forced her pale blue eyes up to suss out the cause of his sudden change of heart.

  Mr. Douchenozzle’s arm was frozen in midair, with a large, slim-fingered hand wrapped firmly around his wrist, locking him into place. Following the arm attached to the newly-appeared hand, Ria’s gaze drifted slowly up, past a lean but defined bicep covered in a blue dress shirt, over a broad, swimmer-physique shoulder, on to a smooth jawline, and up, up (WAY UP) to a pair of shimmering jet-black eyes staring daggers into the head of Mr. Douchenozzle. Atop the head of Mr. Black Eyes was a crown of perfectly coiffed, pale blonde hair that seemed to glow like sunlight in summer. The dazzling man before her was anything if not refined, and anything if not completely and utterly out of place in this god-forsaken bar.

  And as sure as Ria knew she was Ria, she knew this man was so not human.
